NLMK Appoints New Long Products Division Director
06/16/2010 - Novolipetsk Steel appoints Alexander Buraev as the new Director of NLMK’s Long Products Division. He replaces Olga Naumova, who has resigned from the company.
Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has appointed Alexander Buraev as the new Director of NLMK’s Long Products Division. He replaces Olga Naumova, who has resigned from the company.
In his new position, Buraev will be responsible for the development of Nizhne-Serguinsky Steelmaking and Metalware Plant (NSMMZ); Uralsky Plant of Precision Alloys (UZPS); Kaluzhsky Electric Steelmaking Plant (Kaluga mill); Vtorchermet NLMK; and some additional companies that are also a part of the Long Products Division.
“Alexander Buraev is an experienced professional who has made a substantial contribution to the development of the Lipetsk production site,” said NLMK President Alexey A. Lapshin. “He is now entrusted with the important task of bringing NLMK’s Long Products Division to a new level, by increasing the output of new high-quality products, restructuring our Urals scrap collecting assets, radically improving our metalware unit operations, and enhancing environmental and industrial safety.
“The Group’s Management Board has confidence in his experience and managerial skills and wishes him success in this new position,” added Lapshin.
Prior to being appointed to this position, Buraev was the Head of Production at Operations Department at the Lipetsk site, a position he has held since 2007. He has held different offices at NLMK since 1988, including Head of Cold Rolled and Coated Flats Shop at Lipetsk plant (2002 to 2007). He was named Honorable Steelmaker in 2003, and in 2004 he was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II class.
Born in 1963, Buraev graduated from the Lipetsk Technical Institute in 1986, majoring in Steelmaking and Welding Technologies.
