Nippon Steel Works Shuttered After 70 Years of Operation

10/02/2023 - Nippon Steel Corp. has closed its historic Kure plant, bringing to an end seven decades of production.

The company announced plans to close the facility in 2020, and made final shipments from the plant in mid-September, The Japan Times reported. The company plans to dismantle the entire facility over the next 10 years, according to the publication.
