Nippon Steel: We’re the Right Investor for U. S. Steel
01/23/2024 - Nippon Steel Corp.’s leading executives on Tuesday reiterated promises that the company would honor United States Steel Corporation’s collective bargaining agreements and would share technology that would improve the iconic steelmaker’s competitiveness.
Writing in the The Wall Street Journal, president Eiji Hashimoto and executive vice president Takahiro Mori also said U. S. Steel would retain its identity and manufacturing facilities through the acquisition.
“Our investment reaffirms the strength of the U.S. economy, the value of American employees, and the ability of the U.S. steel industry to compete globally. The U.S. and Japan benefit from an alliance that advances shared values, and our two companies can do the same,” they wrote.
