Nippon Steel Suspends Delivery of Galvanized Pipe from Kimitsu

Nippon Steel Corp. has suspended delivery of galvanized steel pipes from its Kimitsu Works following the discovery that some of the facility’s pipes had been insufficiently galvanized.
 
The stoppage, which took affect August 25, 2010, impacts the following products:
 
·         Galvanized steel pipes for ordinary water piping (SGPW)
·         Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride lined steel pipes for water piping (SGP-VB)
·         General piping pipes (ASTM A53SB/F, BS1387-H/M67) (Major destination: the Middle East)
 
The company noted its intent to review and, where necessary, improve the corporation’s quality-assurance systems in its effort to prevent a recurrence of this situation and regain the confidence of its customers. The company also said it would continue to respond as needed regarding the current situation.
