Nippon Steel Remains Confident About U.S. Steel Transaction
12/05/2024 - Nippon Steel Corp. believes it can close its acquisition of United States Steel Corporation by year’s end, in spite of opposition from President-elect Donald Trump.
"We will not give up on the deal... There is no global strategy without the U.S.," Nippon Steel Vice Chairman Takahiro Mori told the Reuters news service.
On Monday, Trump reiterated a prior promise to block the transaction.
“I am totally against the once great and powerful U.S. Steel being bought by a foreign company, in this case Nippon Steel of Japan. Through a series of Tax Incentives and Tariffs, we will make U.S. Steel Strong and Great Again, and it will happen FAST! As President, I will block this deal from happening. Buyer Beware!!!”
