Nippon Steel Promises No Exports at U. S. Steel’s Expense
11/18/2024 - Nippon Steel Corp. is promising the United Steelworkers union that it won’t direct shipments from its Japanese mills to U.S. customers as part of its planned acquisition of United States Steel Corporation.
According to the Bloomberg news service, Nippon Steel executive vice president Takahiro Mori said in a letter to the union that his company would not import any overseas produced steel slabs into the U.S. or reduce the ability of U. S. Steel to produce slabs.
