Nippon Steel Exec Sees EAFs in Its Future
10/20/2020 - Against the backdrop of increasing competition, Nippon Steel Corp. is evaluating the expanded use of electric-arc-furnace-based production, reports the Bloomberg news service.
According to Bloomberg, Nippon Steel president Eiji Hashimoto has called on staff to take a closer look at the process.
Nippon Steel already is planning an electric arc furnace to make electrical steel sheet at its Hirohata Works in western Japan, but the greater use of the process could help cut costs and maintain market share, Bloomberg reported.
