Ruukki Releases Report on 2009 Environmental Responsibility

03 March 2010 - Ruukki claims in its 2009 corporate environmental report that it made progress in the energy efficiency of production with the aim of achieving energy savings of 9%, compared to 2005 levels, by 2016. The company spent a total of EUR 21 million on environmental investments in 2009.

ArcelorMittal Reacts to Kumba Iron Ore Supply Stoppage

01 March 2010 - Trading in shares in ArcelorMittal South Africa was recently halted. The company has received notification from Kumba Iron Ore that from March 1 forward it will not supply iron ore to ArcelorMittal from its Sishen iron ore mine under the terms of their 2001 supply agreement.

23 February 2010 - World crude steel production for the 66 countries reporting to the World Steel Association stood at an estimated 109.24 million tonnes in January 2010 — 2.1% higher than the previous month (December 2009) but about 26% higher than January 2009.
