16 December 2009 - Novolipetsk Steel resumes production at its converter #2 after the upgrade of an emission system in the BOF shop #1. The company upgraded its converter #1 prior to this project, and it plans to begin the upgrade of converter #3 in March 2010.

Kobe Provides Fingerprint-Resistant Steel Sheet Technology to voestalpine

15 December 2009 - Kobe Steel, Ltd. is providing Austria's voestalpine Stahl GmbH with technology to produce fingerprint-resistant electrogalvanized steel sheet. voestalpine plans to conduct mill trials and customer trials starting in 2010.

NLMK Launches New Environmental Project in Sinter Production

Ruukki to Improve Efficiency of Steel Service Center Network

14 December 2009 - Ruukki plans to improve operational efficiency by merging its Puurtajankatu steel service center with the Asponkatu steel service center in Järvenpää, Finland. The steel service centers in Seinäjoki and Raahe will be merged to form one organization, and operations at the Hyvinkää center will be reorganized.

Posco Donates Books to Overseas Korean Students

14 December 2009 - Posco recently donated books worth 25 million won to Pohang International School in Zhangjiagang, China. The school, established thanks to a donation from Posco, was completed in August and opened in September of this year.

11 December 2009 - As a result of an audit conducted by TUV SUD, Tikhvin Smelting Plant (TFZ JSC) has obtained the certificate of compliance with the quality management system standard ISO 9001:2008. TFZ JSC is consolidated by Oriel Resources Ltd., which is Mechel OAO’s ferroalloy sub-holding.
