Demand is strong in North America, the Persian Gulf region and the Southeast Asian market, however, other markets like the EU and South America are still showing some weakness.

03 December 2014 - Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. has acquired all of the capital stock of Fox Metals and Alloys Inc., a steel distributor specializing in alloy, carbon and stainless steel bar and plate products, primarily servicing OEMs and machine shops who manufacture or support the manufacturing of equipment for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

AIIS: October U.S. Steel Imports Rose Sharply

03 December 2014 - U.S. steel imports rose sharply in October 2014, driven by increases from Brazil, South Korea, and Turkey, according to analysis from the American Institute for International Steel (AIIS).

Preliminary U.S. Steel Imports Rose 13% in October

02 December 2014 - Based on preliminary U.S. Census Bureau data, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that the U.S. imported a total of 4,398,000 tons of steel in October, including 3,396,000 tons (tons) of finished steel (up 12.8% and 14.9%, respectively, vs. September final data).

Kennametal Board Names Don Nolan Chief Executive Officer

Nolan as the company's president, chief executive officer and member of the board of directors, while electing William R. Newlin, lead director, to serve as chairman of the board, both effective 17 November 2014, facilitating a clear-cut, transparent transition of immediate effect.
