Siemens Receives Order from Gerdau Açominas for Rolling Mills

26 August 2010 - Gerdau Açominas has ordered a plate mill and a Steckel mill from Siemens VAI Metals Technologies, to be constructed at Ouro Branco in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. 24 August 2010 - Steel Authority of India Ltd. Chairman C.S. Verma has inaugurated the second ladle furnace of Steel Melting Shop-II at Rourkela Steel Plant. The 150-tonne ladle furnace will enhance the production capacity from the current 1.68 million tonnes per annum to 1.85 million tonnes of liquid steel per annum.

World Crude Steel Production Dips 3.3% in July, Beats Year-Earlier Total

23 August 2010 - Total stainless steel imports reached 235,739 tons in YTD May 2010, 60.0% increase compared to the comparable year-ago period according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty steel imports were up 46.7% through the same period.
