New U.S. OCTG Mill Begins Ramping Up Production
08/17/2015 - Seamless tubes have begun rolling off the line at Benteler Steel/Tube GmbH's new OCTG mill in Shreveport, La., USA, AMM reports.
According to AMM, production began Aug. 1, and the company plans to ramp up over the next few months.
The company, along with Louisiana officials, broke ground on the US$975 million mill in 2013, before energy prices began to tumble. However, Benteler COO told AMM that the mill is a long-term investment.
"(We are) committed to building this facility because of a long-term commitment to the U.S. market. That commitment will not chance because of market fluctuation," Erway told AMM.
The mill is to be able to produce up to 320,000 tons of tube annually.
