New Processing Line Boosts Outokumpu's Capacity at South Carolina Mill
04/03/2017 - New Outokumpu has upgraded its stainless bar mill in Richburg, S.C., USA, adding a coil-to-bar line that boosts its capacity by more than 15,000 metric tons annually.
“The new investment allows us to expand our capacity in the area of coil-to-bar peeling where we have been capacity constrained. The line utilizes hot-rolled coil bar feedstock which is straightened, peeled, chamfered and polished to finished bars,” Bob Beatty, head of Outokumpu Stainless Bar USA, said in a statement.
“This new capacity helps us to expand our business in key growth markets including the important automotive segment where we have a strong position,” he said.
The new line is capable of producing bars in diameters of between 0.6 and 1.25 inches. Its output is intended for sale in the North American aerospace, oil and gas, construction and chemical processing markets, in addition to the automotive market.
