New Midrex HBI Plant Passes Muster
09/14/2017 - A Midrex hot-briquetted iron (HBI) plant built for a Russian iron ore miner and processor has passed its performance guarantee test, Midrex has announced.
According to Midrex, the plant, installed at Metalloinvest's Lebedinsky Mining and Processing Integrated Works, was awarded its performance test certificate on 30 June.
Designed to produce 1.8 million tons of HBI per year, the plant is the second Midrex unit installed at the facility. It increases the facility’s overall capacity to 4.5 million metric tons annually.
The plant was built in partnership with Primetals Technologies.
