New Forging Plant Enters Service
05/18/2020 - Russia’s Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant (ZMZ) has commissioned a new Danieli-built forging facility, Danieli has announced.
Danieli said in a statement that the integrated complex includes a 25-MN open-die forging press and two integrated manipulators.
The new plant allows ZMZ to produce forged components in diameters ranging from 100 mm to 800 mm and in lengths of 10 m.
The open-die forging press can operate at 80 strokes per minute and has a daylight of around 3,500 mm. It also has automatic top-die clamping and an automatic tool-changing device. The manipulators can lift ingots of 20 metric tons with a load moment of 60 metric tons/minute.
“The DanForge open automation system provides complete coordination between press and manipulators allowing the fully integrated controls for highest productivity and repeatability of the forging cycles. All activities for movement, management and control are accessible at the main desk, and only one person is needed to operate the complete forging plant,” Danieli said.
