New Contract Expands Harsco's Middle Eastern Mill Portfolio
04/25/2017 - Mill contractor Harsco Corp. has landed a US$60 million agreement to provide services to a new rebar and wire rod plant in Egypt, the company announced Tuesday.
Under the 10-year agreement with Egyptian Steel, Harsco will provide slag management, scrap management and material handling services to the steelmaker’s new Ain Sokhna plant, which is now under construction. There also are future plans for Harsco to design and operate onsite metal recovery and briquetting plants, Harsco said.
Harsco said the contract further strengthens its market-leading presence in the African and Middle Eastern market.
“This contract addition in the Harsco portfolio is in line with our growth strategy in this strategically important region,” Harsco president and chief executive Nick Grasberger said in a statement. “Our metals and minerals business is growing again and capturing new sites.”
Harsco said it will begin providing services to the mill in January 2018.
