New Centro-Metalcut Saw Expected to Boost Forged Ring Production at Mexican Mill
01/24/2020 - Centro-Metalcut is wrapping up installation of a 34-inch abrasive cutoff saw for an unidentified steel producer in Mexico, the company reports.
According to Centro-Metalcut, the 75-hp saw will be used to cut forged rings for the aerospace and wind turbine industry. It is equipped with a rotary clamping chuck capable of holding rings in diameters ranging from 15.75 inches to 59 inches and in thickness ranging from 1 inch to 6 inches.
“This machine was a unique application and new kind of design for us,” said Derek Wheeler, vice president of sales. “It’s important for us to show that we do more than just saws and grinders – we can take a specific problem and find a solution through our equipment to solve it and help our customers gain efficiency.”
The project is set for completion in early February.
