NAFTA Talks Reach Critical Stage
05/07/2018 - The negotiations over revisions to the North American Free Trade Agreement are entering a critical period this week as officials from Canada, Mexico and the U.S. look to resolve differences before elections change the equation, according to the Reuters news service.
“At the heart of the NAFTA revamp is U.S. President Donald Trump’s desire to retool rules for the automotive sector in order to try to bring jobs and investment back north from lower-cost Mexico. Despite months of talks on the issue, the sides remain far apart,” Reuters reported.
