Munroe Adds Oxygen Lances to Product Line

While oxygen lances are commonly utilized throughout the steel industry, Munroe recognized a demand for high quality lances that can be relied on for extremely consistent performance and longevity.

Munroe oxygen lances feature a proprietary coating on the oxygen lance tip to reduce wear and ensure long-term performance. Lance tips are precision engineered to the tightest tolerances, to ensure proper oxygen flow rate, maximum bath penetration and distribution pattern. All pressure retaining welds are x-ray quality, full penetration welds.

During the steelmaking process, a desired carbon content is attained by lowering an oxygen lance into the vessel and oxygen is blown into the molten metal at supersonic speeds. The introduction of the oxygen causes the carbon in the iron to oxidize to CO and CO2 which raises the temperature of the furnace, further melting the steel and reducing the carbon content and impurities resulting in better quality steel.

“Tremendous quality and value have been the hallmark of every Munroe product and that certainly holds true with our oxygen lances. Our engineering team has designed exactly what the market has been looking for—a superior quality lance that offers the highest degree of performance and reliability,” said VP—Sales & Marketing, Tony Manuel.
