MSCI: Shipments Recover Slightly in June
07/22/2015 - The Metal Service Center Institute has reproted that U.S. shipments of steel products decreased only moderately in June and aluminum shipments increased.
Canadian results recovered last month, with small increases in both steel and aluminum shipments.
U.S. Service Center Activity
In June 2015, U.S. service center steel shipments decreased by 3.2% from June 2014. Steel product inventories increased 7.1% over June a year ago.
In June, U.S. service center shipments of aluminum products increased by 3.8% from the same month in 2014. Inventories of aluminum products increased 3.1% from June a year ago.
Canadian Service Center Activity
Canadian service center shipments of steel products in June 2015 increased by 0.3% from June 2014. Steel product inventories increased 19.7% from June a year ago.
In June, Canadian service center aluminum shipments increased 6.6% from the same month in 2014. Inventories of aluminum products in Canada increased 8.6% from June 2014.
