MSCI: July Steel Shipments Fall, Inventories Rise
08/18/2015 - U.S. and Canadian steel shipments declined 7 percent in July, dropping to 3.44 million tons, according to the Metals Service Center Institute.
According to the institute, shipments fell from the July 2014 level of 3.7 million tons. Shipments were also down on a month-to-month basis, declining from 3.57 million tons in June 2015.
Meanwhile, inventories rose 5 percent from the previous year to nearly 9.18 million tons, according to the institute. Inventories also notched up from the previous month, rising from 9.15 million tons, the institute said.
