MSCI: Growth Reverses Again in November
12/17/2013 - Decreases in steel shipments from service centers in the U.S. and for both steel and aluminum in Canada were moderate, the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI) reported.
Only U.S. aluminum shipments increased in November from year earlier levels. Inventories are in line with shipping levels.
U.S. Service Center Activity
U.S. service center steel shipments in November 2013 decreased by 0.7% from November 2012. Steel product inventories decreased 1.0% from last month.
November U.S. service center shipments of aluminum products increased by 5.3% from the same month in 2012. Inventories of aluminum products increased 1.4% from last month.
Canadian Service Center Activity
Canadian service centers shipments of steel products in November 2013 decreased by 4.5% from November 2012. Steel product inventories decreased 24.8% from November a year ago.
Canadian service center aluminum shipments in November decreased 2.0% from the same month in 2012. Inventories of aluminum products decreased 11.7% from November a year ago.
U.S. Service Center Activity
U.S. service center steel shipments in November 2013 decreased by 0.7% from November 2012. Steel product inventories decreased 1.0% from last month.
November U.S. service center shipments of aluminum products increased by 5.3% from the same month in 2012. Inventories of aluminum products increased 1.4% from last month.
Canadian Service Center Activity
Canadian service centers shipments of steel products in November 2013 decreased by 4.5% from November 2012. Steel product inventories decreased 24.8% from November a year ago.
Canadian service center aluminum shipments in November decreased 2.0% from the same month in 2012. Inventories of aluminum products decreased 11.7% from November a year ago.
