Morgan Construction Co. has received an order from Xing Cheng Specialty Steel Co., Ltd., P.R. China, for a modification to its No. 2 Bar Mill. This will be Morgan’s third new Bar Reducing/Sizing Mill (BRSM) to be installed in China.

Morgan’s scope of supply comprises provision of the mill, including Morgan’s latest-generation three-stand, Bar RSM with waterboxes, uplooper and roller tables. Morgan will also provide its control system for the Bar RSM and waterbox temperature control.

Xing Cheng Specialty Steel’s purpose for the modification is to improve the product’s quality tolerance for the mill. When the modification is complete, the bar mill will initially roll 25 to 60 mm rounds, which will later be expanded down to 20 mm in size. The mill will also produce 6 to 25 mm thick by 50 to 140 mm wide flats.

The modification will be designed at Morgan’s Worcester, Mass., headquarters, with production of the equipment to be split between Morgan’s China and Worcester manufacturing facilities.
