Morgan Construction Co. has signed a contract with Arcelor Alambron Zumarraga, Spain, for an upgrade to its two-strand rod mill.

Morgan’s scope of supply comprises six no-housing roughing mill stands. The new stands, which will replace the existing roughing mill, are part of a phased upgrade plan to increase production and reduce maintenance.

Morgan will also modify the existing laying head with the latest segmented-type deflector plate for improved ring pattern and tail-end ring shape at high speed. Morgan will supply new traversing water boxes, and will also upgrade the existing Stelmor^® cooling system to increase the mill’s cooling capacity.
