Moré to Provide Lime System for North Star BlueScope Steel
10/17/2005 - North Star BlueScope Steel, Delta, Ohio, has awarded Moré srl, Gemona del Friuli, Italy, an order to supply a complete pneumatic lime transportation/injection system for the plant’s 195-ton twin-shell twin-shaft EAF.

Moré will supply four MOLI dispensers for the pneumatic transportation of Dololime and HiCal from the external main storage silos to the internal day-bins, as well as three MOLI dispensers for pneumatic injection of Dololime and HiCal from the day-bins to the EAFs. Moré will also provide four LimeJet multi-functional burner/injection units, which will be installed on board of EAF shells. Moré’s supply agreement also includes pipelines engineering and electrical/automation system integration into the existing PLC-HMI in service for the Hi-Jet and Module technologies.
Equipment startup is scheduled for the first quarter of 2006.
Moré now has 15 EAFs with lime pneumatic transportation/injection systems for electric arc furnaces worldwide.
North Star BlueScope Steel is a 50/50 joint venture between BlueScope Steel and Cargill Inc. With an annual capacity of 2 million tons of hot-rolled bands, the North Star BlueScope Steel minimill includes a twin shell/twin shaft AC EAF, two ladle furnaces, a slab caster for medium thick slab, tunnel furnace and rolling mill. The rolling mill comprises eight stands, two roughing stands and six finishing stands.
