MORE said the manipulator is a 4-axis machine that automatically opens the taphole in the event of clogs that sometimes develop during oxygen lancing.

“The STAP device is not used regularly in each cycle, but only when required. Nevertheless, it can prevent long delays … due to the time required for operators to repair the occurrence of the non-spontaneous opening,” the company said.

The manipulator is to enter service in the third quarter of this year.
