More Details Emerge on New Australian Rail Mill
02/04/2019 - A new rail and heavy sections mill to be built at the GFG Alliance steel works in Australia will be capable of producing 750,000 metric tons annually, reports the equipment supplier on the project.
In a press release highlighting its partnership with the company, the supplier, Danieli, said the state-of-the-art mill will increase the facility’s production capacity, reduce waste and broaden its product offerings.
Danieli said the mill will incorporate its patented RH2 rail hardening system. It will work with AAR TEE Group’s Ferretti International on the plant construction.
GFG Alliance announced in December that it is partnering with Danieli and CISDI Engineering on efforts to overhaul the iconic Whyalla plant. More immediate plans include the new rail mill, but GFG Alliance also is looking at building an entirely new steelmaking plant at the site.
