April 2006 — Acerinox SA recently put a new oxygen lance manipulator into operation in one of its two 120-tonne AOD converters at its Los Barrios meltshop in Cadiz, Spain.

Supplied by Moré srl, the new AOD oxygen lance manipulator is completely hydraulic with innovative mechanical concepts to improve the maintenance requirements and operational flexibility.

The oxygen lance has been designed for a maximum oxygen flow rate of 10.800 Nm3/h.

Acerinox’s Los Barrios meltshop is part of a fully integrated minimill for flat products. The facility has an annual capacity of more than one million tonnes.
