MMK Ranked Among World’s Most Sustainable Steelmakers by S&P Global
02/11/2022 - Russia’s Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) has been named by S&P Global as one of the world’s top companies for sustainability initiatives, the steelmaker announced today.
MMK was listed among the top 11 ferrous steelmakers for sustainability performance according to S&P Global’s 2022 Sustainability Yearbook. The annual publication assesses more than 7,500 companies worldwide in 61 industries based on quality of environmental, social policy and governance (ESG) reporting and performance. MMK was the only Russian steelmaker to make the list for 2022.
In an official statement, MMK director for strategy and development Sergey Nenashev said “it is a great honor for us to be included among the world's best steel companies in the Sustainability Yearbook rating. MMK does a lot to ensure environmentally friendly production, transparency of corporate governance and social support for employees and residents of the places where we operate. We will continue to improve our practices in all these areas, and we hope to uphold our strong performance in both national and international ratings.”
