MMK Mill Breaks Monthly Production Record
06/15/2020 - A PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works sheet mill rolled more than 500,000 metric tons in May and set a new company record in the process.
According to the Russian producer, the record output was driven by an internal production shift — an other of the plant’s key units, Mill 2500, is being upgraded and is out of service.
With the increased workload, the mill rolled 534,174 metric tons during the month, breaking the previous record of 527,955 metric tons, set in July 2018.
The mill can produce sheet in widths ranging from 760 mm to 1,830 mm and makes thousands of products for various sectors. It was rebuilt in the mid-2000s and is producing around 6 million metric tons annually, MMK said.
