MMK Launches New Class of High-Strength Micro-alloyed Steel Grades

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, OJSC (MMK) has launched production of new class of high-strength super-low-carbon micro-alloyed hot-galvanized steel grades designed for a wide range of industries.

The Metal Expo 2010 award-winning class of steel is characterized by high strength and plasticity and yield points higher than 210 MPa (up to 800 and even 1200 MPa). The new steel products were jointly developed by MMK and Central Scientific Research Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy.

The newly introduced steel grades are used by carmakers and home appliances manufacturers. High-strength rolled products in automotive applications help to make automobiles more safe safe, less heavy and therefore more efficient.

In addition, high-strength rolled steel products have been increasingly used in the construction industry.
