MMK Contracts Danieli for EAF Technology Suite
04/24/2020 - Russia’s Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) is outfitting its No. 2 electric arc furnace with Danieli’s Q-MELT process control technology, the equipment supplier has announced.
Danieli said the technology package includes its Q-REG electrode regulator, a Lindarc laser offgas analysis system and a Danieli Melt Model heat optimization package. Danieli also will install a new oxygen injector and post-combustors on the 180-metric-ton furnace, it said.
Installation is slated for this summer during a planned maintenance shutdown, Danieli said.
“The Danieli Q-MELT package will allow a further decrease in operating expense for an already performing EAF, which is being charged with up to 40% of hot metal,” Danieli said in a statement.
