Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) reports it has assembled the first phase of technological equipment at its Mill 2000. The new continuous pickling line has now been linked to the tandem mill, and all necessary gear has been put in place.

The company has accomplished the roll test at the input section of Mill 2000’s continuous pickling unit, and the low- and high-pressure and emulsion systems also have been tested.

Pre-commissioning activities at the continuous pickling unit’s middle- and tail ends are continuing. The mill’s first-stage launch has been scheduled for July 2011.

The new mill has a design capacity of 2 million tons per year. The mill will supply products to carmakers, home appliance manufacturers and the construction sector.
