MMK Awards Contract for Sinter Plant Equipment
11/02/2016 - China’s Sinosteel Equipment & Engineering Co. Ltd. has won a RUB6.7 billion contract to equip a new sinter plant in Russia.
The contract was awarded by OJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, which is building the plant to replace its outdated No. 4 sinter plant. Designated as the No. 5 plant, the new facility will have 5.5 million metric tons of capacity, replacing the No. 4 plant’s 4.2 million metric tons of capacity.
“Construction of the new sinter plant addresses a number of issues – from enhancing quality of our end products and reducing costs to improving working conditions and the environmental situation both at the mill and in the city,” MMK board chairman Viktor Rashnikov said in a statement.
All told, MMK plans to invest around RUB 22 billion in the plant, which is scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2019.
