Mitsui Mining to Be Renamed Nippon Coke
06/03/2008 - Mitsui Mining announces plans to change its corporate name to Nippon Coke & Engineering, reflecting the company’s deeper ties with Nippon Steel and Sumitomo.
Mitsui Mining Co. announced late last week that it would change its corporate name to Nippon Coke & Engineering Co. With the change, the company will remove the title of “Mitsui” from its name for the first time in its history, which dates back to 1889.
The company said it made the decision as it now has deeper ties with Nippon Steel Corp. and Sumitomo Corp., which have been backing Mitsui Mining's reconstruction efforts since 2005.
