Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery Acquires Full Stake in Manufacturer of Gear Reducers

After acquiring 35% of the shares of the company in March 2010 in order to reinforce the supply chain for gear reducers, which are core components of steelmaking machines, Mitsubishi-Hitachi, as the largest shareholder, promoted technology exchanges by dispatching engineers, officers, and junior technicians. In addition, the company has sought to mutually strengthen the multifaceted relationship in such ways as introducing new equipment.

Hasegawa Gear Works, Ltd. is one of the few mid-size manufacturers of gear reducers with a planning and detailed design system. It has conducted a stable, solid business including the design, production, and maintenance of gear reducers and gear spindles for steelmaking machines, gear reducers for cooling towers, gear reducers for chemical agitators, gear reducers for extruding machines, gear reducers for ski lifts, etc.

As a result of the latest share acquisition, Mitsubishi-Hitachi’s supply chain as a procurement source, especially for cold rolling mill gear reducers, will be strengthened/reinforced, and at the same time, the company will expand its business by producing synergies in such ways as concentrating on the maintenance business for various industrial gear reducers.
