Minnesota Governor Puts Support Behind Firm's Effort to Revive Stalled Iron Ore Project
10/04/2017 - Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton has given his blessing to a firm looking to rescue the stalled Essar Steel Minnesota iron ore mine and taconite plant, reports the (Minneapolis, Minn.) Star Tribune.
"After very careful review of Chippewa's progress to date, I believe that they have substantially satisfied its obligations to the bankruptcy court and the state of Minnesota," Dayton said. "Their progress has been very significant. Their securing the necessary financial commitments has been most impressive. [And] their negotiations for an off-take agreement with a Chinese company could open an entire new market for Range production."
