Mill Supplier Sees ‘Unprecedented’ Demand

“The capex going on throughout the steel industry is, from what we’ve seen, unprecedented,” said Lee Morgan, president and co-owner of The Systems Group.

Morgan’s comment came during the Town Hall Forum, a signature plenary event at the Association for Iron & Steel Technology’s annual conference and exposition, AISTech 2021. Morgan told attendees his company, which makes electric arc furnace equipment, has been so busy that it has added 250 people in the past three months and may soon add another 250 people.

He also said that based on inquiries to the company, it appears there will be plenty of work in the future.

As for steel mills, executives said during the panel discussion that they saw strong demand through the remainder of this year and into 2022.
