Mill Steel Announces New Location, Expands Existing Facility
08/29/2023 - Michigan-based flat-rolled distributor Mill Steel Co. is establishing a new location in Mansfield, Ohio, USA, in support of its entrance into the flat-rolled stainless and aluminum markets and concurrently investing US$18 million in its Detroit, Mich., facility.
The 90,000-square-foot facility will include 60- and 72-inch slitting lines and a 50-feet-deep looping pit for surface-critical material.
There are also plans to add cut-to-length processing capabilities. The facility will serve as its primary in-house processing location for stainless steel and aluminum flat-rolled products.
Mill Steel expanded into stainless and aluminum distribution earlier this year through its acquisition of Cleveland Metal Exchange and Chicago Stainless & Metal Exchange.
Meanwhile, in Detroit, the company is expanding the operation there, adding a new slitting line, a new pack line, two new cranes and 50,000 square feet of warehouse space.
“The proximity to our customer base and geographic benefits made this an excellent opportunity. I look forward to the additional capacity this provides to support our double-digit growth,” said Mill Steel chief executive officer Pam Heglund.
