Midrex Names New President, COO
04/08/2016 - Midrex Technologies Inc. veteran Stephen Montague has been named president and chief operating officer, the company has announced.
Montague succeeds chief executive James D. McClaskey as president. McClaskey, however, will remain the CEO.
Montague joined Midrex in 1987 as a co-op student and has served in numerous roles related to engineering, operations, technology development and sales. He was most recently served as vice president of sales and marketing.
Montague also has had a hand in the design and start-up of numerous MIDREX plants. He has helped to develop many new technologies and is co-named on several patents.
A North Carolina native, he holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University.
Midrex, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan’s Kobe Steel Ltd., is a developer of the process technology behind direct-reduction ironmaking.
