Mexico Promises to Watch U.S. Electrical Steel Exports
11/05/2020 - Mexico will begin to closely monitor exports of electrical transformer laminations and cores under an agreement with the U.S.
According to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, the agreement resulted from consultations with the U.S. over the transshipment of grain-oriented electrical steel produced outside of North America.
“The resilience of North America’s energy infrastructure is significantly enhanced by having electrical steel production capability within our region. An influx of low-price steel from third countries imperils this capability,” Lighthizer said.
