Mexican Producers Commission Fives OTO Tube Mills
02/20/2017 - Mill equipment manufacturer Fives recently installed and commissioned two of its OTO-branded welded tube mills at two plants in Mexico.
In a statement, Fives said one of the mills went to Perfiles y Herrajes, L.M. S.A. de C.V., a leading Mexican producer of tubes and profiles. There, a 3-inch mechanical tube mill was commissioned last year, with the first tube coming off the line just 50 days after installation began. The mill has a production capacity of 3,000 tons per month on two shifts per day.
Elsewhere, Fives designed and installed an OTO heavy-duty tube mill for Productos Laminados de Monterrey, S.A. de C.V., which will use it to make automotive products. The 3.5-inch mill will produce mother tubes, which will then be scarfed inside for further drawn over mandrel processing, according to Fives.
The mill features a high diameter-to-thickness ratio and is able to produce to very tight tolerances in diameters in order to meet demands of auto parts manufacturers.
