Metinvest to Modernize Rolling Mill at Ilyich Works
07/16/2012 - Heating furnace No. 5 at the Rolling Mill 1700 of the Ilyich Iron & Steel Works in Ukraine, an affiliate of Metinvest Holding, was shut down for the capital repair for 45 days within the framework of a complex program for reconstruction and modernization.
Heating furnace No. 5 at the Rolling Mill 1700 of the Ilyich Iron & Steel Works in Ukraine, an affiliate of Metinvest Holding, was shut down for the capital repair for 45 days within the framework of a complex program for reconstruction and modernization. The sum of investments amounts to 12.5 million UAH (US$1.5 million).
The main types of work to be done during the repair are: lining reconditioning, skid rails, burners, riders and circuits replacement, cooling system repair, furnace and water-cooled skids shell replacement. Renovation of the technologic unit will be carried out by the overhaul shops of the works.
“Rolling Mill 1700 is one of the priority strategic objectives of reconstruction of the Ilyich Iron & Steel Works. Currently main attention is paid to the renovation and technical upgrading of the existing facilities,” said First Deputy General Director, Chief Engineer of PJSC of the Ilyich works, Sergey Matvienkov. “Renovation of the heating furnace No. 5 will improve quality and decrease power inputs for hot rolled steel plate production”.
