Metinvest Resumes HDG Production at Ilyich Works
03/05/2015 - Hot-dip galvanized (HDG) production at Ilyich Iron & Steel Works of Mariupol, Ukraine, which had been idled since January, will start on 5 March 2015.
The plant’s HDG production line No. 2 in its cold rolled shop will work at full capacity. It is planned to produce 16,000 tons of galvanized coils in March. Over 40% of these products will be shipped to the local market directly to buyers in accordance with contracts and to the warehouses of Metinvest-SMC for wholesale and retail customers in all regions of Ukraine. The rest will be sold in the CIS and overseas.
In the last six months, Ilyich Iron & Steel Works of Mariupol’s cold rolling shop has been working to master new types of products. Industrial production has been launched of S320GD and S350GD galvanized coils with guaranteed 275 g/sm zinc coating, which are used for the of formed sections (z, с, sigma and U sections) for light steel thin-walled structures and girders and of DX51D hot deep galvanized coils for cold forming.
Production of merchant cold rolled coils in this shop will also start up in March. They will be supplied both to the local market and abroad, mainly to the CIS and Middle East.
