Metals Association Appoints New Managing Director
09/13/2016 - William T. Mahoney, an executive who helped to greatly increase revenues at a public research and development group in South Carolina, has been named managing director of ASM International, the Ohio-based association has announced.
According to the association, Mahoney served as the chief executive of the state-chartered South Carolina Research Authority from August 2005 to March 2016. Under his leadership, the authority saw revenues from its applied research and commercialization services operations grow from US$74 million to more than US$455 million annually.
A Harvard graduate, Mahoney served as the authority’s board secretary and as chairman of its wholly owned applied research and development affiliate, Advanced Technology International Inc. He currently serves as board chairman of authority-invested tech start-ups STEM Premier and Carbon Conversions Inc.
