Metalloinvest Completes Another Stage of Modernization at MGOK’s Crushing, Processing Plant
12/25/2014 - Mikhailovsky GOK (part of Metalloinvest) has completed reconstruction of the main conveyor M1 at its crushing and processing plant as part of Metalloinvest’s investment program.
Following the reconstruction, the conveyor’s transport capacity increased from 2,900 metric tons per hour to 5,000 metric tons per hour.
The main objective of the conveyor modernization is to increase the output capacity of the crushing and processing plant by improving the throughput of each element of the conveyor circuit to 5,000 metric tons per hour. At present, the transportation of the entire volume of crude ore from the large crushing unit to the intermediate and fine crushing section at Mikhailovsky GOK is done by two conveyor circuits: К1-М1-М23-О2 and К2-М2-М11-О1. In 2012, the transport capacity of the main conveyor belt K1 of the first conveyor circuit was increased to 5,000 metric tons per hour.
Sergey Kretov, managing director of Mikhailovsky GOK, commented: “The reconstruction of the crushing and processing plant is one of the main projects of the production modernization program carried out by Metalloinvest at the plant. The implementation of this long-term investment project is a prerequisite for increasing concentrate output capacity at Mikhailovsky GOK to 17.9 million metric tons per year.”
As part of the conveyor M1 reconstruction, supporting structures were reinforced and under-rail beams were replaced. The whole operating unit of the conveyor was upgraded, including: the frame of the conveyor, belt, rolling blocks and rollers. ORMETO-YUMZ supplied the equipment. Metalloinvest-ZRGO, Metalloinvest’s subsidiary, and contractors Tsentrmetallurgmontazh and Regionstroy carried out the installation of the machinery and hardware, and laying of the reinforced concrete.
The upgraded conveyor M1 started to operate at the planned production volumes. The company is currently conducting automatization of the reconstructed conveyor. The automatization will ensure work safety, enable a higher equipment utilization rate and, as a result, will increase the efficiency of the crushing and processing plant. Around 300 control points will provide sufficient information on the work of safety devices, driving gears and the temperature of bearings and oil lubrication.
The next stage of the modernization program envisages reconstruction of the conveyors M23 and O2. After that, the company will proceed with the reconstruction of the second conveyor circuit: K2-M2-M11-O1.
