Metalloinvest and Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant Extend Cooperating Program

As a result of the meeting, the agreement for long-term collaboration was extended.
Valentin Tazetdinov, technical director of ChelPipe Group, commented on the outcome of the meeting: “Such Coordinating Board meetings are always strategically important and allow us to have direct supplier-consumer dialogue and to resolve effectively issues of enhancing quality and technology of the rolled metal production, resulting in increased competitiveness of our products. The high quality and optimal pricing of Ural Steel’s products have allowed our companies to work together successfully over several decades. I am confident that our strong partnership and close cooperation will help us to get through these challenging times.”
As part of the working meeting, the steelmakers and pipe producers assessed the results of the collaboration of the previous period, and discussed further opportunities for working together and long-term pricing matters. The guests were introduced to the design and implementation of measures to improve quality of flat products and identify defects at Ural Steel. Companies’ representatives discussed the aspects of production and supply of corrosion-resistant steel grades, to be used for the manufacturing of pipes for Rosneft Oil Company’s projects. The manufacturers also visited Ural Steel’s EAF and plate rolling mill, where they learned about the production chain for rolled steel with enhanced quality characteristics.
Sergey Zubov, technical director of Ural Steel, said: “ChelPipe and Metalloinvest are connected through a partnership of many years. The steelmakers deliver both pipe billets and flat steel products to the pipe manufacturers for production of large diameter pipes. The modernization of the production facilities that we have undertaken has had a positive effect on the quality of rolled products. We aim to satisfy the quality requirements of the end consumer.. This Coordinating Board meeting was constructive. The resolutions made by the parties will aid the fulfillment of the stated goals.”
