Metal Pass to Upgrade Level 2 Model for NISCO Steckel Mill

Nanjing Iron and Steel United Co., Ltd (NISCO) has awarded Metal Pass a nine-month contract to improve its steel plate/steckel mill Level 2 model.
As part of the project, Metal Pass will add enhanced learning logics and metallurgical principles to the existing Tippins model system to achieve higher prediction accuracy for better product quality and productivity. The upgrade will also strengthen the existing Siemens Level 1 system to improve product quality, including in the plate head and tail ends.

Metal Pass will also implement its own Guided Two-Parameter Learning, which considers major metallurgical effects with only very limited modification of Level 2 source code.
The improvement work on Nisco’s is expected to be completed in early 2010.
Pittsburgh based Metal Pass provides steel mill resource, solution and E-Biz, including the development of steel rolling mill models and application of models in the supply or improvement of Level 2, Level 3, and roll-pass software packages.
Headquartered in Nanjing, NISCO is one of China’s major steel producers.
