Mechel Enters Coke Supply Agreement with Serbian Mill
12/28/2017 - Russian miner and steelmaker Mechel PAO has signed an agreement to supply 120,000 metric tons of coke to Serbia’s lone steel mill.
In a statement, Mechel said the long-term agreement with HBIS Group Serbia Iron & Steel, which owns the Zelezara Smederevo mill, provides for shipments throughout 2018.
“Serbia’s market is of major interest to us due to comfortable logistics and stable demand for coke. Until now, Mechel’s sales subsidiaries sold coke in that country on a spot basis. This agreement launches a new stage of our partnership with HBIS Group Serbia Iron & Steel,” said Mechel Mining Management chief executive Pavel Shtark.
“In the future, we plan to increase our supplies to this key client in the Balkans,” he added.
