McDonald Steel to Permanently Close
06/28/2023 - Opened in 1918 by the Carnegie Steel Co., the special shapes mill in McDonald, Ohio, USA, will close permanently by year’s end.
The announcement came Tuesday afternoon as a “prudent economic decision” by the company, due to the fact that the mill would require US$60 million in renovations.
The company said its 14-inch hot-rolled steel operations will taper down by the end of the third quarter, and its special shapes operations will cease by the end of the year.
