May Steel Shipments up 4.1% from April
07/19/2010 - U.S. steel mills shipped 7,345,455 net tons for the month of May 2010, a 4.1% increase from the 7,057,660 net tons shipped in the previous month and a 71.6% increase from the 4,281,986 net tons shipped in May 2009 according to the latest report from AISI.
U.S. steel mills shipped 7,345,455 net tons for the month of May 2010, according to the latest report from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
The May total represents a 4.1% increase from the 7,057,660 net tons shipped in the previous month (April 2010) and a 71.6% increase from the 4,281,986 net tons shipped in May 2009.
A month-to-month comparison of shipments shows the following changes:
· Hot rolled sheet, up 5%
· Cold rolled sheet, up 2%
· Hot dip galvanized sheet and strip, up 0.5%
